This book is the third edition of the author’s self-published work in 2011. Jantje Kupers-de Roo resides in the northern part of the Netherlands and possesses a deep affection for traditional bed linens in her homeland’s iconic colours: blue, white and red. She updated her book this year, following her beautiful exhibition at our Pour l’Amour du Fil show in April 2023. She has added her latest creations, along with the compelling stories behind them. Indeed, what truly matters are the stories of these humble bed linens, sheets and duvet covers from the early 20th century. Ms. De Roo breathes new life into them by turning them into simple yet comforting quilts. For each piece, she and her friends who collaborated on the project provide insights into their origins, and share memories tied to them.
This book brimming with warmth and nostalgia evokes the smell of fresh straw used to stuff mattresses of that era. It also resonates with the joyous laughter of children playing in box-beds. And so the cherished fabrics from yesterday continue to fulfil their mission, accompanying us through the night into the realm of sweet dreams…
The book includes six projects designed to assist you in re-purposing your treasured bed linens!
