The American embroidery by Dames of the Needle
Dames of the Needle is the name of the brand by Elizabeth Talledo, an American designer who has always been in love with cross-stitch.
Like in the best tradition of embroidery designers, Elizabeth learnt sewing from her grandmother who, at the age of five, made her customize and embroider towels and tablecloths for their house. Her passion for threads and needle became a real job in 1990 when she subscribed to the American
guilds thus formally creating her own creative designs.
Among all the subjects of Elizabeth's works we mainly find vintage samplers: sea characters or American traditions. The fact that she was born in Virginia, the land of the New World where the Pilgrim Fathers gave birth to the USA has influenced a lot the production of this artist. But the works by Elizabeth are not limited to little pictures to hang on the wall. Among the favorite pieces of art by the "Dame of the Needle" there are a lot of
3D projects: pochettes, bags, needle-minders, organizers… Each project is a little jewel to always bring on you.
Elizabeth also loves teaching and for such a reason she organizes a lot of classes in the States. But also in the old continent we can appreciate her clear and didactic approach in the instructions of her charts which make all works easy even if they are in English.
It goes without saying that Elizabeth loves embroidery especially because this art refers to all ages with no discrimination. It does not matter where we come from and where we are going to, cross-stitching unites us all! And with this attitude, we cannot but have fun in embroidering her
Summer Flowers or in assembling this nice
biscornu.
By the way Elizabeth suggests to all embroiderers to make each project personal, creative and unique. The personality and the genius must accompany each cross-stitch
