Seki Sewing Shears with Lacquered Handles - Tamenuri Dark Brown

Seki City, in the Japanese Gifu Prefecture, is the city of cutlery, in the Land of the Rising Sun: These shears are made following artisanal methods in a workshop established in 1933 and lacquered with the special Tamenuri technique, dating back to 300 BC, by an artisan who has lacquered Buddhist altars with this same technique since 1970. Tamenuri is a deep brown color, produced by applying layers of transparent lacquer on top of vermillion lacquer. The layers of lacquer bring out a translucent luster and depth. Beautiful luster and tasteful shine will appear as the years go by, and the smooth texture unique to lacquer will fit comfortably in your hand.
The light and stable cutting edge is made of durable and rust-resistant Japanese stainless steel.
The blades are 8 cm long, while the total length of the scissors is 21 cm. The shears come with genuine leather sheath and cleaning and care cloth.
