Festa del Ricamo: Sharon Crescent

Date Added: 04/24/2010
Sharon was born in a big farm in Arizona and moved to Tucson to attend university where she got graduated in microbiology and chemistry.
It is actually easy to imagine that she remembers the colors of the nature that has characterized her childhood, and her Academic knowledge is at the basis of her famous enterprise, whose threads, rigorously hand-dyed represent the choice of thousands of cross-stitch lovers all over the world. And Sharon herself, in an interview made some time ago, has simply admitted that when one of the major wholesalers of embroidery has started selling her threads in 2003, she was still working as a management accountant in a Tucson hospital and she worked only part-time in her dying enterprise. Only after a whole year of reflexion, Sharon has decided to definitely leave the hospital office and start the Crescent Colors, thus making her passion a full-time job!
Time– not so much, since only six years have passed– proved her right: nowadays Crescent includes cotton threads, also in the perlé version and silk ones (the silk threads to dye come from France) which, with their shades, never the same, give unique effects to all embroideries and they are famous for their softness and easiness.
But Sharon's inspiration is actually lively as she works not only for her enterprises, but she is also a mother, she loves reading, playing tennis, participating to sport events with her daughter, and cooking (she has even published a recipes book). So her life is truly full of colors!
