Festa del Ricamo: Jennifer Manefield e Patrizia Girlanda

Two patchwork masters, at the disposal of all the lovers of this wonderful technique, but, above all, of all those who are firstly approaching the quilting art.
They are Jennifer Manefield and Patrizia Girlanda, two experts who come from the two opposite poles of the Earth -really: Jennifer is Australian and Patrizia Italian, but they share a special passion for creating magic works with simple pieces of fabric of printed and fantasy cottons.
Since 1988, Jennifer lives in Italy, where she moved to follow an Italian man who later became her husband (as she has confessed to us). Always passionate of do-it-yourself, in 1997 she gets closer to the patchwork and quilting world of which she soon becomes an expert by putting aside her graduation as a Nursery, in order to entirely dedicate herself to this activity. However, the attention and the will to help others, which must have been fundamental for her choice of becoming a nurse, are still evident also in this new work: in fact Jennifer decides to spread the patchwork art through teaching this technique and for such a reason she holds a lot of classes all over Italy where she explains with a lot of particulars and a nice personal "touch", the secrets of quilting and machine patchwork.
In 2007, as a reward for her intense teaching activity, she was called by one of the major enterprises of this sector, the Danish Stof, of which CasaCenina sells a lot of selections of cotton fabrics, chosen by Jennifer herself.
And from Verona, just to demonstrate that Italy is becoming more and more a leading country for the quilting, comes Patrizia Girlanda, rightly considered one of the main exponents of the national quilt/patchwork and among the principal members of the “Quilt Italia” association. Also Patrizia works hard as a patchwork teacher and particularly she has organized hundreds of specific training on her major speciality: the a lamelle technique, which allows you to realize abstract patterns crossed by relief bands. Like all respectful artists, Patrizia has participated several times to different contests, with personal works and her creations have also been exposed in some events like that organized in 2008 by the Comune di Cembra, in Trento province, entitled “Stoffe e Fili”.
