Once upon a time there was…
… the kitchen of our grandma, filled with the heady fragrances of her homemade delicacies, following recipes handed down from family to family.
In many countries, cooking is still based on this tradition: a matter belonging to the family sphere, like a precious inheritance. Just as so many household and kitchen linens belong to it, after standing the test of time “stoically”, we can say :-)
The tea towels of Thieffry Frères recall exactly that tradition! This company is based in Roubaix (in northeastern France, bordering precisely on Flanders, the Belgian region which the fabric's name "Fiandra," a prized variety of linen, comes from) and has been in the business of flax and cotton production and weaving since 1837. Nearly 200 years of family history and, today, in their sixth generation, still giving life to kitchen linens with a unique taste and with all the French and vintage charm that reminds us of our grandmothers' own chests of drawers.
