Mother's day in France

Happy Mother’s Day to all French moms!

In Europe, May celebrates many mothers worldwide on as many Sundays. In France, however, this year Mother’s Day is exceptionally on the very first Sunday of June, instead on the fourth of May (when Mother’s Day has been traditionally celebrated in France since 1806, when Napoleon decided it!), because that was Pentecost Sunday :-) Our French friends were of course already aware of this, but to us it was a nice surprise to learn we can celebrate a Mother’s Day in June, too!
