Festa del Ricamo: Gigi

Yes, her true name is Gigi! Gigi Ries has Dutch origins, but she has grown up in England, by coming back very often to Belgium, at her grandmother's, from whom she has inherited her love for embroidery. With the curiosity and the cure that she has applied during her works as a researcher, Gigi has then dedicated her life to her 4 children and the study of antique samplers, firstly by discovering the English school of Ackworth and then the Quaker one, other than the more modern products by Sajou. Gigi is then become expert of the embroidered ribbons of Marken, a little isle of fishers in Holland, where every woman is used to customize their cap with these particular decorations. The colors and the motifs of the antique embroidery are once again in the works by Gigi, here are her products. You will certainly recognize the famous Lettres Gigi, a new interpretation of the samplers Gigi has been inspired by. You will be certainly fascinated by the Foresta Incantata or the more classic Jeanne Ries.
