Where have we got this idea from?
Just like the Black Friday, in the USA, Christmas in July has long become a strengthened tradition, whose origins are uncertain and yet connected to a series of very nice tales and even circumstantial facts!
The first one reports of a girl summer camp in North Carolina, where the first documented "Christmas in July" was celebrated - in July 1933 - with a traditional Xmas tree, presents and even a visit from Santa Claus The reason for such a decision is unknown, but it was just two years after, in 1935, that the National Recreation Association's journal described in detail what a Christmas in July was like at a summer camp.
Then, in 1940 it was Hollywood's turn, with the blockbuster comedy "Christmas in July", where a poor bungles is fooled into believing he has won $25.000 in an advertising contest. He'll buy then presents for his whole family and friends, for his neighbors and even a ring for his girlfriend, whom he proposes marriage to... We're not going to reveal here the end, in case you decide to watch this movie

Just a few years later, in a baptist church in Washington, D.C., Christmas in July was introduced as an actual celebration, with carols and a tailor-made sermon, in which the pastor explained that the special service was conceived to present mas gifts early, to give ample time for their distribution to missions worldwide. From then on, this unusual Summer Christmas became a yearly event even for the US Post Office, US Army and Navy Officials that threw a Christmas in July luncheon in 1944, to promote an early Xmas mailing campaign for service men and women oversea during World War II!
So a many-year tradition that all the biggest stores in the US have now joined, with severa sales and promotions... And that Casa Cenina has decided to take straight to Europe, too!!!
