A video tutorial dedicated to you and to… appliqué!
Date Added: 05/12/2011
I've decided to call it "video tutorial" since I think this is its essence: a series of videos I've personally shot with all the clarity I could (but if I have not been that clear, you know how to contact me!) and all my "heart" in order to offer to all who were not at the Festa del Ricamo or who were there but were not so lucky to participate to McKenna Ryan's class, the chance to see how these quilts are made. And I've called them like this for a reason: a lot of you have written to us in the last few weeks as to have some info about it and in some others' e-mails I've perceived the freight these splendid works cannot be so easy to make… Actually this is not true! So we have decided to publish on-line this tutorial which will guide you step by step to the creation of the same block made during the Festa del Ricamo, but that, above all, explains to you McKenna's technique, valid for all her quilts We have chosen altogether here in Casa Cenina to proceed with some ad hoc videos, instead of putting eventual on-line videos of the class performed by McKenna during the Festa del Ricamo for a very practical reason: patchwork is a technique which allows to jump here and there, from the ironing board, table where the cutting board is and the sewing machine table. For this reason we were afraid that the video where dozen ladies where moving among the tables while our American guest was explaining everything - in English while I was translating everything - could be at the end too confusing and unclear, especially for those who approach this art for the first time So you will see only me and you will listen only to my voice explaining to you all the phases of the work. The vision of me is not a particular advantage at all! But in this way the explanation will be clearer As for me, I hope this is of help but that, above all, it will make you understand that everybody, really everybody deserves a little pleasure like that of a quilt so beautiful, at least once in a lifetime: and this pleasure, believe me, is in your hands! I wait joyful for all comments, answers, clarifications etc you will send to me! But do not send to me pieces of advice about a diet: I swear I'm thinner in person than in the video!!!
